James Frawley - Assistant Principal II

Qualifications: Professional Masters in Education(PME), BSc (Hons) Microbiology and Chemistry, Diploma in Business Management, TEFL Cambridge EAL Cert. Currently undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership with the University of Limerick.

A Galway native, James entered the teaching profession in 2017 after completing a Masters in Education in NUI Galway. Prior to this, James worked as a Clinical Bacteriologist in the Clinical Science Institute (CSI) in the University Hospital. During his time in CSI, James authored and published two scientific research papers in the Journal of Medical Microbiology and was responsible for Undergraduate student’s final year research projects. James currently teaches JC Science in our school and is qualified to teach Chemistry and Biology. He has worked as an Superintendent and Examiner for Higher Level LC Biology for the State Examinations Commission(SEC) and is currently the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO)in our school. James is currently pursuing a Higher Diploma in Special Education from NUI Galway.

Aside from his work as a Science teacher, James is an avid traditional musician. He has travelled extensively across Europe and the United States and has performed in various venues throughout the country. He is also the vice chairperson of Moycullen, Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Éireannwhere he teaches music to children on a weekly basis.
