Sharon Connell – SSA (Student Support Assistant)

Sharon qualified with a BA in Music and a Graduate Teaching Diploma (Music) from the University of Limerick in 2010. She also completed the Comhaltas TTCT teaching diploma and has tutored with various schools and music workshops around Ireland. In 2016, Sharon completed her SNA training with Portobello Institute. Since then, she has worked in both primary and secondary school settings.

In her spare time, Sharon teaches Irish traditional music and several of her students have followed in her footsteps and achieved All-Ireland success. She is the current chairperson of Lackagh Comhaltas and head of the traditional music department with Athenry Music School.

Sharon has toured extensively across Europe, America and Canada performing with various music groups and during the summer months, she is a much sought-after adjudicator at Fleadhanna Cheoil all over Ireland and abroad.

Sharon was delighted to join the Galway Educate Together Secondary School team in August 2021 as an SNA and believes in the importance of giving all students the opportunity to learn in an environment suited to their needs and interests. She looks forward to being part of the growth and progress of the school community in the future.
