Gabrielle Campion - Assistant Principal II

Gabrielle has a BA in English and Gaeilge and a Masters in Nua-Ghaeilge from NUI Galway. After her degree she completed the Ard-dioplóma i gCumarsáid Fheidhmeach (higher diploma in Applied Communications) in Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge in an Cheathrú Rua, which led Gabrielle to a brief career in journalism and communications in Australia.

Having taught Gaeilge to Irish children while she was in Australia, Gabrielle knew teaching was her calling. She returned to Ireland and completed the Máistir Ghairmiúil san Oideachas (Professional Masters in Education) in NUI Galway. During her masters, Gabrielle was also an examiner of Junior Cycle English and found this experience invaluable to her development as a teacher.

Gabrielle incorporates her experience in communications into her English lessons by encouraging students to find their own voices as they question and discuss texts.

She is also a meditation and yoga teacher, and she brings mindfulness practices into the classroom to help students engage and focus on their own learning.

Gabrielle is passionate about Global Citizenship Education and encourages students to engage with global issues with an open mind and express themselves and their views in an accountable and authentic way.
