What Erasmus+ is

Erasmus+ is a European Union programme that connects students from across Europe. It gives you the chance to:

  • Travel abroad and experience a new culture
  • Learn and study in another country
  • Make friends from different backgrounds
  • Learn new skills that help your future
Think of it as a doorway to new opportunities, friendships, and experiences that can shape your future!

What it means?

The name Erasmus comes from a European scholar who travelled to learn — just like you can! The “+” means the programme goes beyond studying, it’s about inclusion, cooperation, and personal growth. Erasmus+ includes:

  • Students (like you!)
  • Schools
  • Colleges, universities, youth and sports groups
All working together to build a more open, connected, and European community.

Why is important

Erasmus+ isn’t just about going abroad — it’s about who you become through the experience. It helps you to:

  • Build confidence and independence
  • Experience new ways of learning
  • Discover different cultures and traditions
  • Make friends for life from across Europe.
  • Strengthen your future studies and career opportunities
  • Learn to be open-minded, responsible, and inclusive

Your Opportunities

In our school’s Erasmus+ project, students can:

  • 🌐 Go on short or group mobilities (around 10 days) to partner schools in countries like Spain or France
  • 🏡 Host students from other countries in your home
  • 🌍 Take part in international projects without leaving school — through activities, exchanges, and Erasmus+ Days
  • 💶 The great news: Erasmus+ provides funding — so most costs are covered

Students mobilities

  • The duration is minimum 10 days (as required) and long term minimum of 30 days.
  • Regarding to timing, it would utilise holidays in calendar so you do not miss time of school.
  • As we mention repeatedly this is not only linguistic, it focus on inclusion, sustainability and European citizenship.
  • Staff travel with students but are nor required to stay the whole time.

Host students

  • Students chosen for Erasmus+ trips will have most of the costs funded – travel, accommodation, and daily expenses are covered by the Erasmus+.
  • What we need in return is your help hosting visiting students when it’s our turn.
  • Hosting doesn’t require an extra bedroom! A comfy sofa-bed or shared room is fine — what matters is a friendly, welcoming home.
  • Hosting earns extra points in the selection process.
  • Is a great way to experience

Staff Mobilities (Job shadowing & CPD)

  • The purpose is to observe and learn how inclusion, sustainability, and intercultural learning are embedded in partner schools.
  • The staff must commit to share outcomes through staff PD workshops, department meetings and new curriculum strategies.

Funding and Hosting

  • Students chosen for Erasmus+ trips will have most of the costs funded – travel, accommodation, and daily expenses are covered by the Erasmus+.
  • What we need in return is your help hosting visiting students when it’s our turn.
  • Hosting doesn’t require an extra bedroom! A comfy sofa-bed or shared room is fine — what matters is a friendly, welcoming home.

Our project, Inclusive, Sustainable & European-Minded Futures, focuses on:

  • Inclusion – Everyone can participate and feel valued
  • Independence – Building confidence through travel and teamwork
  • Sustainability – Promoting green travel and caring for the planet
  • Active Citizenship – Understanding your role in shaping a fairer, more united Europe
It’s not just about language learning — it’s about personal growth, inclusion, and global awareness. In addition, all students and staff who participate in mobility programmes can then share what they have learned with their peers and colleagues, making these experiences highly beneficial for the entire school.
