Niamh Slattery (Home Economics & Gaeilge)

Niamh is a Home Economics and Gaeilge teacher from County Tipperary. She graduated from St. Angela’s College, Sligo with a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics and Irish and brings great enthusiasm and energy to both of her subjects.
Niamh has a genuine passion for the Irish language and has spent many summers in the Gaeltacht, where she developed a deep appreciation for Gaeilge and its place in everyday life. She is equally passionate about food, nutrition, and practical cookery, with cooking and baking being among her favourite hobbies. Through her teaching, she aims to inspire students to develop lifelong skills and confidence in the kitchen.
Niamh loves travelling, experiencing new cultures, and learning about food traditions around the world. She has a strong interest in health and physical activity, and she strives to promote these values among her students at GETSS. She loves being active and enjoys playing badminton. She currently runs the school’s badminton club, which she sees as a fantastic opportunity to connect with students, build positive relationships and create an enjoyable, inclusive environment outside the classroom each week.
