Student Leadership

Student Council

The Student Council is a dedicated and hard-working team that meets once a month to discuss how it can positively impact school life here at GETSS. We are excited to see what they will achieve this year!

Each year group elects their Student Council representatives in a whole-school election at the beginning of the school year.

Our elected Student Council representatives for 2025/26 are as follows:

First year: Oisin, Amirah and Enya
Second year: Cayenne, Sam and Karolina
Third year: Saoirse, Rhys and Milly
Transition Year (TY): Gemma, Hazel and Molly
Fifth year: Rory, Eryk and Sean

Within the Student Council, members are elected to a variety of roles. Below are some of the roles of the Student Council this year:

Chairperson: Rory
Vice chairperson: Molly
Secretaries: Gemma and Sean
Junior Cycle student liaison: Saoirse
Environmental officers: Gemma and Molly
Feel Good Friday student liaison: Karolina
Board of Management student representatives: Rory and Kulsoom

Senior Prefects

Prefects are the highest formal leadership role a student can aspire to at GETSS. 6th Year Prefects at GETSS are elected by the 6th Year students and staff based on the experiences and knowledge of the students during their time at the school.

Each prefect is expected to:

  • Be a visible, positive role model within our Student Community
  • Attend meetings related to their role
  • Represent the school at school and public events
  • Lead Tutor sessions throughout the year.
  • Be advocates for key areas that align with our values

    • Sanctuary
    • Student Council
    • Extra Curricular & More
  • Be solution-driven
  • Be hard working – academically & in your Prefect duties
  • Be helpful and mannerly to other students, staff, wider school community – RP values

Two prefects will be the 6th Year Student Council Reps, and one will be expected to attend BOM Meetings.

Our current Prefects and their respective responsibilities are :

Sonia: Liaison for School of Sanctuary and 5th Year students
Kulsoom: Liaison for Restorative Practice, attends the BOM as a Student Rep and 2nd Year students.
Eva: Liaison for Student Council and 3rd Year students
Stella E: Liaison for the House System and TY students
Alex P.: Liaison for Extra-Curricular/ Sport and 6th Year students
Anna: Liaison for Green Team and 1st Year students
