School Bus Transport Portal closes next Friday

Reminder School Transport: Friday, 8 May 2026 is The deadline for payment, registration and to enter medical card details for the School Transport Scheme for the 2026/2027 school year. Please find attached a social media graphic which may assist with dissemination of this information to families.

Who needs to apply?

Applications are required for students who are new to the scheme, starting junior infants or first year, changing school or address.

Families who have previously applied do not need to reapply unless details have changed, but must log-in to complete payment or submit medical card details.

In order to fully integrate all pupils using mainstream school transport, all pupils who have arrived in Ireland from Ukraine and all pupils residing in IPAS/EROC centres are required to apply for mainstream school transport by the deadline date of 8 May also. This will mean that all families, living in accommodation centres, IPAS centres, modular homes, with host families, and living independently, should now apply on the Bus Éireann family portal.

School transport continues to be free of charge for all eligible families with a medical card who apply and enter details by the closing date. It is important that new applications are received as soon as possible for students who are new to the scheme for children with special educational needs (SEN), starting junior infants or first year, changing school or address.

Parents should be advised that late applications or payments may result in a ticket not being available, and that late applicants will not be considered for the Remote Area Grant for the 2026/2027 school year.

Further information on how to apply and fees are available here.

Thank you.
